After
a brief scan of the people waving and yelling behind
the arrivals lounge gate in Toronto, we spot my parents.
Our own little fan club is waving a big sign with "welcome
back e-Lopers" on it. This is one of those times
that feel like a hazy dream while it's happening before
your eyes. I can't believe it's been a year. I can't
believe everyone's speaking English. I can't believe
I don't have to carry a backpack with me anymore. I
can't believe we just got up and traveled for a year
in search of marriage traditions with some of the world's
oldest cultures.

We
have learned so much. While it's still fresh in our minds
we will write a book about our adventures. I want all
of our new friends and family around the world to know
how much we appreciate how they shared their cultures
with us. Our lives have been enriched and changed forever.
Getting back into the swing of things, we catch up on
news from our friends. It turns out that ours isn't the
only wedding planned for the near future... congratulations
to Chris and Deb, Scott and Beth, Adam and Melissa, Chantal
and Mike, Chad and Jenn! Something is definitely in the
air over here. |

Everything
is so easy here. I know I will soon take the conveniences
of Canada for granted again. We can jump in a car and
find anything under the sun in 10 minutes or less. The
grocery stores seem to have more food than some entire
countries we visited. I hope I can remember to appreciate
it.
While in the middle of mundane tasks I'm often transported,
from washing the dishes to a dusty mountain road, from
walking the dog to swimming with sharks. I cling to
the most exciting moments, storing them to fill our
upcoming book. The adventures haven't stopped though.
We're now taking what we've learned and hammering out
plans for the final ceremony. We know we want to celebrate
our last wedding in Canada's majestic mountains. Our
hearts are set on a natural ceremony and Canada has
plenty of nature. We can't wait to bring friends and
family together in a place that will fill us with awe.
Our trip has been a lifetime of memories crammed into
one year. The people we met have touched our lives in
ways that have changed us forever. We can never thank
them enough. We can only hope that we brought some happiness
to them as well and that we can share their wisdom with
our friends, family and the world.
Thank you all.

Driving
across the country to start our new life in BC was a
great welcome back to Canada for us. Driving up the
Sea-to-Sky highway from Vancouver was as stunning as
the first time, with ice-capped mountain ranges around
every bend. Around one turn I drifted off to Bolivia,
waking from the sudden transportation to realize we
had only passed a llama farm.
Our ninth and final
wedding ceremony was in July, which we're still
beaming from. Our honeymoon consisted of us and 10 friends
in two giant RVs, traveling through the Rocky Mountains
to Vancouver, where we met more friends for our big
bang reception.
Our new home is a little cabin in Whistler, BC, by a
lake in the mountains. Our new friends here are laid-back
and friendly, motivated and fun, and share our love
of the outdoors. Geoff and I work part-time as we write
our book... we are well on our way to documenting our
fantastic journey to share with others.
